JADIKAN
JADIKHAN by JADIKAN, the Khan of the light feast
No touch-ups ! His photographs are never touched up with softwares.
Jadikan is french but his name means « to create », « to represent », « to use » or « to change ». It comes from malayan language. The universal artist place, what it’s producing, is also discussed.
Born in 1981 near Grenoble, after having studied Economy and Law, especially about new sources of energy, the main energy which on he focuses nowadays is the photographic light. He decided to follow the mainstream of Light Painting : a photographic work near painting in its issues that Man Ray would have discovered before Picasso tries the process.
For him the choice of a place is very important as the fact to changing in situ its daily appareance. So no photograph is touched up with a software.
We meeted Jadikan before his departure to Kathmandu Valley protected by UNESCO, in Nepal, where he stayed two months. His use of luminous forms puzzled us. From Louvre to Jazzmen graffiti in Malaya, he was never where we may wait a photographer.
When he came back our gallery wanted to promote his unbelievable complete mastery of low light. Thanks to a long and often very long exposure Jadikan is suddenly and subtly changing a statue in a living character. A strawberry cordial surrounds the stairs, a snake breathes fire. Better than a firework display, what a flaming show !
All is once deeply new and yet unchanged. A magical mystery.
In Nepal, he took up the challenge buddist temples and sanctuaries can express more than their mystic strenght. Once upon a time the beauty of the pure inner light is exploding. A feast for everybody ‘s loving magic.
