HERGÉ
Tintin, Le Sceptre d'Ottokar, Black and white « grande image » A18, Casterman, 1942
Very fine condition to superb condition (1st cover near of new)Descriptif
Printed by Casterman in 1942, this black and white edition that includes 4 « hors-texte » in colors gets for the first time a new drawing taking all the cover and not just a small picture at the middle of the cover.
A fantastic drawing so elegant and architectural.
In 1947, when this title has been published for the first time in colors, will be printed a new cover looking like this one.
But the elegance, solemnity and « gravitas » of the 1942 « grande image » edition will have not been reached.
A rare and highly value edition especially rare in this condition.
1st cover near of new, few defects. Just in the first flyleaves has a split but without damage for the binding. The inner is fresh with some tears but mainly in inferior margins and these tears come from the quality itself of the war paper that was used in 1942. Ready to be read.
