Rare and superb portrait but also document of Felicité Dupont, the wife of Deputy Jacques-Pierre Brissot (a physionotrace of Brissot himself available also in our gallery)produced circa 1792, under French Republic, drawn by Fouquet one of the collaborator of Crétien and engraved by Gilles-Louis Chrétien, the inventor of physionotrace.
The portrait of an intelligent woman (she was an english translator who translated english writers in french and her husband texts in english ) and beautiful woman before she becomes a widow. One year later, her husband, writer and powerful republican deputy, will be guillotined by Robespierre.
A tragic (his)story.
