Descriptif
Rare portrait of young "Commissaire des Guerres" under 1st French Republic or French Directory, portrait of Armand Charles Théodore Bazin de la Bintinays (a wonderful physionotrace of his wife available also in our gallery) produced circa 1791-1798, drawn by Fouquet one of the collaborator of Crétien and engraved by Gilles-Louis Chrétien, the inventor of physionotrace.
The portrait shows a very handsome young aristocrat probably just called "Commissaire des Guerres", an important military status (ending in 1815), smiling to the life. Subtle and realistic drawing finely and spectacularly engraved by Chrétien.
Comes from the prestigious Count Sforza collection, a diplomat who fighted Fascism.
