Descriptif
Spectacular and original neapolitan gouache from 19th century representing in a big size the first part of a perfectly independant pictural diptych.
The same artist produced two gouaches representing the same eruption the same day but a two moments very differents of the eruption from the 31st march 1871.
This one at the moonlight upon the Napoli bay, a charming moment antithetical of the terrific presence of a Vesuvius blowing out incandescent lava.
Stupefying.
The neapolitan gouaches firstly purchased by english and french aristocrats who discovered with fascination Napoli, Vesuvius, Herculanum and Pompeii at the 18th century, and then by rich europeans, are always very required by collectors.
