Portraits from the hand of Pieter Ledoulx (signed at the bottom to the left), a painter and historian from 18th century who especially focused his talent to painting, studying and describing his city of Bruges.
In addition to his main study, he let too to the posterity nice watercolors of natural history.
His work is rare and represents a precious historical source from Bruges city during the 18th century.
Here we can admire the freshness of these paintings of two popular brugeois in their typical brick house with, for the man a stained-glass windows, each one seeming to looking at the other one.
A double portrait that put together shapes an incredible so living genre scene.
